Put The Needle on the Record
Recording Studio
10/9/2012 1:00 PM

Put the Needle on the Record is a recording studio installation that will fill a time capsule with one-of-a-kind documents of regional, contemporary culture: songs, folklore, interviews, and speculations about the future. All of the recordings will be ‘cut’ on the spot inside a modified shipping container using a custom built record cutting machine. The project is open to the public on a rotating weekly schedule of open-microphone events, radio broadcasts, listening hours and private recording sessions. Put the Needle on the Record will serve as a preservation of the sounds and voices of 2012 as well as a chance to reflect on how far we have come since 1962. Come down to the Seattle Center and send a message to the future!
