Mural Amphitheatre is an outdoor gathering space built on a natural hillside. The world famous Space Needle serves as the backdrop for the Puget Sound Region's only mid-size amphitheatre located in the heart of Seattle Center just minutes from downtown Seattle.
The Amphitheatre serves as a primary venue for concerts during the major summer festivals.
Mural History
Built for the 1962 World's Fair, the artistic mural was created by renowned artist Paul Horiuchi. Originally the mural was placed over a pool of water (now the stage) and surrounded by temporary structures, including the IBM building. Today, the Mural Amphitheatre is used for public programming and festivals, such as Northwest Folklife Festival, Bumbershoot, and the Seattle Center outdoor film series.
