Festál Cultural Festivals

Discover the Art of Culture at Seattle Center Festál
Seattle Center Festál truly comes of age in 2018 as it launches its 21st season.
This yearlong series of FREE weekend festivals offers visitors a glimpse into the dynamic cultures of our region through music, dance, hands-on exploration, exhibits, foods, children’s activities and more. The series presents 23 ethnic communities who share their culture and build community through their yearly festivals. Collaborating with intergenerational teams in each community, Seattle Center helps to produce and promote their festive gatherings.

As growth and change pull at the fabric of our community, events like Festál bring us together – through discovery, joy and inspiration. Some festivals were formed in response to wars or ethnic displacement and others to unite their communities, educate the public and dispel stereotypes. Now at 21 years, Festál producers are seeking to sustain their festivals with compelling programming that appeals to multiple generations.

In 2018, our theme is “Generations.” As our communities become increasingly fragmented, there is great value in intentionally creating bonds between age groups in ways that foster identity, respect and honor. Everyone has to be involved, all voices need to be heard. That means you!  All voices need to be heard, everyone has to be involved. That means you! Find your community, get engaged and join in strengthening our city. This is how we build community at Seattle Center.
