Surrealized and Blazinspace Present:
Feed Your Identity Diverse Signals

An Unidentified Object accompanied by three extraterrestrial life forms has appeared in Seattle Center. A brave scientist has started communicating with them and requests human assistance at the Upper NW Courtyard posthaste! He writes “We must Feed the Identity Scope Diverse Signals to understand our neighbors. Only then can we begin…Express your identity into the Identity Scope with three human words. Communicate as you desire: talk, sing, whisper, cry, laugh… but let these three human words help us to understand YOU.”

About the Artists:

Surrealized is Kimo Muraki (vocals, multi-instrumentalist), Markus Von Prause (keys, synthesizers, drum programming), and Robert Sydow (programming, mixing, and sound design). Muraki is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, live and studio musician having recorded and collaborated with Grammy nominated, Juno Award winning and Platinum selling major label and independent artists and producers including Vance Joy, Zach Bryan, The Strumbellas and many more. Kimo's artistic work in music and theater has lent itself to audio interactive installations before, utilizing feedback provided by the audience to interact with loops and synthesizers. Markus, an adept improviser, composer and audiophile is well versed in the science of feedback. Robert is a sound design, production and composition mastermind. He is one of the best sound engineers in Seattle and also well versed in the software interfaces that will bring this project to life. From Tony Kay of Artists Home, "Seattle trio Surrealized have been at it for over a decade now, mining a fertile combination of the synthetic and the organic with their sound… Electronic music doesn’t get much tastier than this." Blazinspace is a pseudonym for the artist Gardenia Theroux. They use digital projectors and light to transform space into an immersive experience. As a VJ, they have performed live visuals with bands and DJs for 10 years in Seattle at over 275 events. They are also a filmmaker and producer whose work focuses on taking compassionate action. 'Attack with love.' Together Surrealized and Blazinspace are looking to combine their abilities to create something exciting, educational, and interactive with the help of Ray (nee Kelly Fleek) who has sewn and erected the large projection mapped canvas structure for this piece. Ray is a multi-disciplinary artist and member of the local electro-rock band The Spider Ferns. She is also the maven behind Lo Flux Media in Seattle. Fleek's work has been featured in Buzzfeed, Vogue Knitting Live, LUSIO festival, Kollabora Magazine, Stackedd Magazine, The Seattle Times, Vanguard Seattle, Three Imaginary Girls, Respect My Region, Whatcom Art Museum, and more... Ray works in sculpture, painting, textiles, installation, photography, and music. The Brave Scientist is played by Sam Russell of ‘Sam Russell and The Harborrats’. Sam is a musician, performer and producer whose art always feels like it’s coming straight from the heart.

Artists At the Center is a multi-year collaboration between Seattle Office of Arts & Culture and Seattle Center, with support from Uptown Arts & Culture Coalition and the communities adjacent to Seattle Center campus. The project is made possible by a 10-year grant from Climate Pledge Arena and Seattle Kraken.

Join us as we introduce emerging and established artists and celebrate their talent on a newly revitalized Seattle Center campus. Artists are given a performance opportunity, allowing them to connect with new audiences, display their talents and advance their careers. Visitors to campus and the surrounding neighborhood benefit from surprising and delightful pop-up performances throughout the year. Each year, artists are selected with an equity and social justice lens, ensuring equitable representation for underserved and emerging artists. Artistic genres include music, dance, theater, demonstrations, and multi-disciplinary work.
