In recognition of the Seattle World’s Fair 60th anniversary, Seattle Center and its resident organizations, several of which are also celebrating anniversaries this year, are commemorating this milestone by celebrating the past 60 years – and creating excitement around what is “New, Now & Next” for Seattle Center.

Seattle Center kicks off the six-month celebration of its 60th anniversary date on Thursday, April 21st at Seattle Center Armory Food & Event Hall. The public event, featuring remarks from Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell, Seattle Center Director of Programs & Events Chelsea Most, Pacific Northwest Ballet Executive Director Ellen Walker, with performances by Dallas Pinkham, Seattle's youth poet laureate Zinnia Hansen, Seattle Opera, and DJ Mike Steve. We'll honor the Center’s history and provide a look forward to the future of the 74-acre campus.

Also Turning 60 This Year

Did you know the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair was also home to the world’s largest cake? It weighed 25,000 pounds and was 23 feet tall and was made to celebrate Paul Bunyon’s birthday. Starting on April 21 until May 22, 2022 we're offering a coloring contest featuring that cake to celebrate our anniversary. Be creative, then submit a scan or photo of your drawing to SC.Contest@seattle.gov A winner will be randomly picked each week starting Monday May 2 until Monday May 23, to win a small prize and have their art featured in a special post on Facebook. Scavenger Hunt

We'll announce a fun contest that will have you exploring our campus in the month of June. Stay tuned!

Seattle Center will award 60 2-pack Galaxy Golden Tickets in 2 social media contests. These provide free single-day access for you and a guest on April 21st to select Seattle Center attractions including the Space Needle, Pacific Science Center, Seattle Center Monorail, and Chihuly Garden and Glass. Winner chosen in a random drawing. Prizes will be divided between the contests on Facebook and Instagram. Limit of one entry per user, either on the Facebook or Instagram contest.
